How Myosa® Treatment Works
Myosa® doesn’t just treat the symptoms of breathing disorders, but also rehabilitates the underlying contributors. This is done by first establishing a functional airway as a priority, then transitioning to nasal breathing and correcting other myofunctional habits, all while decompressing the TMJs (jaw joints).
The Myosa®System consists of a series of removable appliances that are issued by our experienced practitioners depending on whether you are a child or adult, as well as the type and severity of your symptoms.
The Myosa® appliances are simple to use, comfortable and are to be worn for an hour each day and overnight while sleeping to successfully retrain dysfunctional habits. The appliances include patented design technology that specifically work on improving breathing function and oral muscle function.
The Myosa® appliances mainly focus on passive retraining, meaning the correction of the resting position of muscles. in conjunction with wearing the Myosa® appliances, our friendly educators will also teach you the Myosa® Activities, a series of breathing and oral exercises to further improve breathing function, as well as help strengthen and tone the throat, tongue, lips and cheek muscles.
The activities are simple to follow and designed to help to you get the most out of treatment. In order to make long-lasting changes, correct muscle function must become habitual.
It is common for children with breathing-related issues to also have underdeveloped jaws or crooked teeth. Therefore, the practitioner may recommend that patients undergoing Myosa® treatment seek further treatment with Myobrace®.
